Exercise In Tolerance

I was raised Catholic. I currently subscribe to no religion. However, religion and tolerance of such seems to be of much discussion recently. As such, I have a little homework assignment for anyone who cares to take it up and report back. It comes in two parts:

Part One: Catholic Tolerance

Pick a Catholic church at random and enter it.

As per tradition, one would dip their fingers in the holy water and form the sign of the cross prior to entering the chapel (those of you old enough are familiar with the friendly reminder: spectacles, testicles, wallet, watch).

Do not follow this tradition.

As per tradition, one would genuflect to the crucifix prior to sitting in the pew (bending to one knee while facing the crucified Jesus).

Do not follow this tradition.

As per tradition, one will sit during some parts of the service, stand during others, and kneel during others. If unsure which position is correct, simply look around you and you will know which position of worship is traditional.

Do not follow this tradition. Just sit there the entire time.

As per tradition, one will turn to others around them, shake hands and offer the greeting, “peace be with you” during the service.

Do not follow this tradition. Ignore all offers of peace from the people around you.

As per tradition, one remains until the procession of the crucifix and the priest leave the chapel.

Do not follow this tradition. Walk out when people begin to form a line to receive the Eucharist.

Part Two: Muslim Tolerance

Pick a Muslim Mosque at random and enter it.

As per tradition, one removes their shoes before entering the Mosque.

Do not follow this tradition. See how long you last.

Lesson over.

Excellent work, TB. Brief and to the point and it highlights perfectly the opposing philosophies.

Good Stuff!!

As I pointed out in a response to Maine a few weeks ago, Islam means "Submission."

Folks on our side of the world often mistake this as a passive form of submission, much like the submission of Christ to the cross.

If Christ had practiced the Muslim version of submission however, he would not have hung from the cross, he would have crucified his enemies.

That is the type of "Submission" that Islam promotes.

and would you be intolerant if I walked in your house w/ my cock hanging out?

A single question for Mr. McCarry:
Have you ever been outside the U.S.? (Canada and Mexico are not included as they are secretly part of the U.S.)

From personal experience (8 yrs and counting), I think it would greatly benefit you and open your eyes to what the world is really like outside the filtered walls of the U.S.

Congratulations, anonymous tool. You win the Christmas turkey.

Are we to seriously believe that not removing shoes is equivalent to hanging out your cock? Get help.

Also, to answer your condescending question: yes, I have traveled the world: eleven countries over three continents and counting. So what? Are you suggesting that my opinion of Islamic fanaticism would be any different had I not gazed upon Michelangelo’s David or the frescoes of the Sistine Chapel? Would I think Islamofacism were more understandable if I had not viewed Paris from the Eiffel Tower, or felt the sand of the beaches of Niece? Would fundamental Islamic nutbags be more endearing to me had I not swam in the deep blue waters off the Dominican Republic or had I not traversed the black terrain of Santorini, Greece?

Get a grip and try to restrain talking about things you know nothing about. That should limit your speech to lattes and douchebags. Don’t sully this blog with your presence again, fuckface.

First off, my apologies if I sounded offensive. Not too often someone actually has a passport in the U.S. (15%) and uses it.

In regards to your rebuttal, I was drawing a parallel between what you would find offensive and others. Don't you ever ask why people outside the U.S. hate U.S. citizens so much?

Obviously, I'm sure you'd agree since you have traveled it's not because "they hate our freedom". Decades of bad policies coupled with tax increases to fund a overbloated miliary (20yrs in the corps) have put us in the perverbial shithouse. Wouldn't you agree?

Besides, how would you like it if someone bombed your house or overthrew your government.

Lattes... hahaha... I much prefer espresso. Who has time for a fuckin latte.
